Photo for cooking classes 400x250Children of the Sun Pty Ltd (COTS) is an NDIS Registered Provider and is committed to assisting participants in achieving their goals towards independence. COTS have developed a special cooking program for 2021 in which participants will learn or develop their existing skills in cooking and prepare a few different meals which they can eat during the week.

The cooking program is run by a qualified food safety supervisor who will teach the participants about the importance of food hygiene when preparing meals. The instructor will also assist participants in preparing a variety of meals for the week.

This program will also teach participants how to do their food shopping at various locations such as the grocery store, markets, online etc. and work out which type of shopping best suits them. Each program is run for 10 weeks which includes 9 weeks of cooking and meal prep classes as well as an excursion week where participants will be taken out on a special food tour/experience.

  • Fees are charged per session and include 4-5 days’ worth of food to take home (excluding the cultural experience week – this will be charged at the tour rate and is optional to attend).
  • 48 hours’ notice must be provided for cancellations.
  • The class runs every Friday.
  • Cost for this program can be claimed under participant’s NDIS Core funding.
